Opening the route.

After being inaugurated by the former president, Mauricio Funes, through MITUR a circuit that runs through the main sites of tar that marked the life of Romero. Where tourists can visit the crypt where remains of Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero is in the Cathedral of San Salvador.


One of the most visited in the crypt where lies the body of the murdered archbishop, located in the lower part of San Salvador Metropolitan Cathedral places.
Tourists from around the world have visit the crypt as:
-President Barack Obama
Daniel Clemente, nationality Argentina.
'Secretary General of the Spanish Episcopal Conference José Maria Gil Tamayo.
-From A delegation of Guatemala 'Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul.

-Another Of visitors who came to the crypt of Monsignor Romero was Cardinal City of Angels United States, Roger Mahony, who believes that "Monsignor Romero is a martyr for the faith" and hopes soon to be canonized in Rome.

The tour begins with a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral; Monsignor Romero and the Martyrs Museum Center, located at the Central American University Jose Simeon Canas (UCA); Divine Providence Hospital site where he was assassinated while giving a mass one March 24, 1980.

Romero "voice of the voiceless".

Blood, torture and persecution frame the three years he served as bishop of San Salvador during the civil war in this country that was the beginning in 1979 Monsignor Romero "voice of the voiceless". He recieved that nomination because he spoke in favor of people who suffered.

Tour costs.

Nearly three years, Salvadorans and visitors in general have the tourist route formerly known as "City Tour Monsignor Romero" that because of the beatification ceremony to be held on Saturday, the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) named the route as "City Tour Beato Oscar Arnulfo Romero.”

Biography.

Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdamez was born on August 15, 1917 in Ciudad Barrios, San Miguel Department. His father was a telegrapher and his mother was engaged in household chores.After completing his basic studies he devoted himself to learn carpentry and music. In 1930, at thirteen years old, Oscar received his call to serve God. He entered the minor seminary of San Miguel and then in 1937 moved to Romero, where he completed his theological studies at the Gregorian University, on April 4, 1942. He returned to El Salvador in 1943, to his native San Miguel.

MONSIGNOR ROMERO ROUTE.


This route is Dedicated to Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero, who fought peacefully for human rights during the armed conflict in the country in the 80's. This route was created on October 11, 2012, under the name of " Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero Route" but with the Beatification, nowdays, it has the name of "BLESSED CITY TOUR Oscar Arnulfo Romero" .The tour consists of 10 places  in honor of the new tourist circuit Blessed Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero. This will help to know how he lived,  about his certain way of life and thinking.  Archbishop Monsignor is known by foreign visitors who visit the country or read about him, and also by the new Salvadoran generation.
